Célèbration vaisakhi
Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, is a significant festival celebrated by Sikhs and Hindus in India and around the world. It marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
During Vaisakhi, Sikhs gather at Gurdwaras (Sikh temples) for prayers, kirtan (devotional music), and langar (community meal). They also participate in Nagar Kirtan, a procession through the streets where the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, is carried with reverence.
The festival is a time of joy, unity, and community spirit. People dress in colorful traditional attire, perform bhangra and giddha dances, and enjoy festive foods like langar dishes and sweets.
Vaisakhi is not only a religious festival but also a cultural celebration that promotes peace, equality, and solidarity among people of different backgrounds. It is a time to reflect on the teachings of Sikhism, show gratitude for the harvest season, and renew one's commitment to living a righteous and compassionate life.
